Welcome Everyone!

I teach an eclectic style of yoga.  I feel I have benefited from  multiple styles of yoga and I want to share what I have learned from:  technical, detailed Iyengar; traditional, rich, symbolic Sivananda; audible Kundalini;  aerobic Ashtanga; pensive Vinyasa flow; creative Anusara; therapeutic Viniyoga; and practical Danda, Longhi and Letha.  I feel there is so much benefit to a wide view of yoga that I wouldn’t choose just one style.   So, I study and incorporate as much as I can.

A typical class starts with warm up, stretch, and setting an intention or a mood.  We practice parts of the sun salutation and progress toward modified and classic poses (asana).  Breathing exercises (pranayama), balances, inversions are introduced and practiced.  We end with cool down, rejuvenative poses, guided meditation/ relaxation.  Elements of Chi gong, Tai Chi, kinesiology, Pilates, physical therapy, and social therapy may be introduced by myself or others in the class.  We have visiting instructors.  We employ props in almost every class.  We use chairs, blocks, straps, pillows and bolsters, eye pillows, blankets, ropes and staffs.  Rarely, if weather is good, we choose to practice outside.  I offer hot water and a tea selection, after class, in an attempt to re-hydrate my students (see basic yoga advice.)

I was born in 1954.  I practiced yoga with my mother and Lilias on TV, when I was little.  I have instructed yoga since 2000.  I have been a competitive athlete.  I have been married since 1976.  We are “Mom and Dad” to 4 souls who are very important to us.  I returned to  yoga in 1997 because it was therapeutic for my tired and damaged body; it revived my mood and outlook.  I KNOW IT WORKS!   And I hope it can work for you.
